Wacom has EOLed my Intuos Pro 4 and it makes question staying with Wacom

Now I get that Wacom is a hardware company and needs to keep making money off of me, but I can honestly say my Intuous Pro 4 PTK-540WL was the perfect Pen tablet for me. It is wireless or wired, and my favorite feature are the little LED screens that show what each shortcut button is. I don’t use the tablet all the time as I am a video editor, but when I am doing photoshop I love having the little LED’s to show what the shortcuts are set for, and after the 4 they removed this feature.

They new Medium Wacom Intuos Pro can be had for $299, and it is wireless and has the shortcut buttons, which the Intuos and One models do not have shortcuts buttons, which I have am very used to, and yes they have models down to $79.95, but if it doesn’t have the features I want, is it really worth it, especially when a HUION with 12 buttons and a zoom ring can be had for under $70. Sure it won’t be nearly as good, but at that price. Especially when I could also use my iPad Pro with sidecar.

And the worst part is they have just purposely removed the model from their latest software update, so if you remove everything Wacom and install an older version of the software you can get it to work in Big Sur, though not Monterey. They just removed it from their software. Honestly I would rather have the ability to pay a bit to support my old hardware so they are still making money off me. I mean I paid more to get the Pro wireless model to begin with, but the idea of spending so much money when I can either get a cheaper version from another company that will work fine, or just use my iPad if I need to do Sidecar and actually see what I am drawing, without having the pay to get a Pen Display.

Now WACOM’s are the best, I just think they are pricing themselves out of the market, especially when I can use the iPad Pro I already have.
