RedGiant Software has released updates for Adobe CS6 compatibility.
It seems Adobe is officially shipping CS6 and they have trial versions available. And in a move that will piss off retailers the upgrades are only available from Adobe themselves. So no deals from other places like the awesome videoguys.
People waiting for Creative Cloud will have to wait till May 11th.
Creative Cloud will certainly be more expensive over time, though additional tools and access to early versions of new technology I think will eventually make it worthwhile.
Richard Keates has a good article on why he dropped FCP X after trying to use it to cut corporate video, and why Premiere Pro is the solution for what he needs to do (graphics heavy productions).
Unfortunately I see many places moving back to Media Composer which I do find inferior for graphics work and hope that Premiere CS6 can make some inroads. I just wish that Apple would re-commit to the MacPro and push to get powerful CUDA Nvidia cards across their line to allow people who are unhappy with FCP X to use the products they want to and stay with Mac!
Jeff Foster at the Pro Video Coalition has an excellent article on real world usage of After Effects CS6’s 3D motion tracking on some very shaky real world footage.
It looks pretty damn impressive actually. I am looking forward to giving this a test drive (and can’t wait for the shadowcatcher feature either).
Worth checking out. Great to see Premiere Pro getting AVID type trimming controls which will make AVID editors happy.
Scott Simmons has a must read on real world using Premiere Pro 6 over at the Pro Video Coalition. He goes into what he likes and dislikes so far when using Premiere Pro 6. It does sound vastly improved, though hopefully Adobe will keep listening and this program will just get better and better.
Walter Biscardi has a good post on editing for now, and or now that is AVID. And Premiere CS6 will be or some things as it is getting better, and Smoke will be tested and he is giving the ideas for their next version, both will possibly be implemented for him in 2013. For me it looks like AVID will be part of it, but I am hoping that CS6 is really a good replacement for Final Cut Pro 7.
Adobe has announced the released of CS6, which will be officially out within in 30 days. You can still buy outright, but it does seem that cloud makes more sense.
The prices can be seen on the product comparison page. Even the Master collection, which is a $549 upgrade or $2599 full seems a better deal in the cloud, as a $30 a month initial deal with a year subscription makes it much cheaper, and you already know you will get a new version every year.
You can now officially pre-order Adobe Creative cloud. It is $70 month by month or $50 a year, and will supposedly have a $30 a month special offer for people who own a creative suite, production bundle or the Master Collection, though that part of the site doesn’t quite work as of yet. And it will be out within a month, though will continue to evolve over it’s life and has additions that even the Master Collection doesn’t have live Device and PC Sync, Cloud Storage, Business Catalyst, Typekit, Story plus, Adobe Muse and Adobe Edge.
That and the ability to get Beta version of their software when new features will be released, and have access to every app (though Lightroom will take longer to join the cloud for some strange reason)makes this the way to go for Creative Suite users.
You can see their product comparison to see what comes in which version of the suite.
Tim Siglin at Streaming Media has a good review of the Adobe Prelude. Check it out. Sounds like a great addition to the Production Bundle.
