MacRumors on screen flicker on Tahoe with Studio Displays

MacRumors on Tahoe screen flicker with Studio Displays. Of course I am on Sequoia, and I have 3rd party monitors and it happens to me randomly all the time. It does seem to happen with switching apps though. I have an M2 Ultra Studio with 2 external Displays and one is on the hdmi port and 1 is usb c, so I think it has to do with the using different ports. It only happens on one monitor for me, but with me doing full time care for our 18 month old I haven’t had time to try and fix it.

DaVinci Resolve 20.2.2 has a new fix for Mac Gamma shift issue with Rec 709 (Scene) from Creative Video Tips

If only Apple would work on this issue, and Adobe as well. Sure DaVinci previously could do this with Rec 709a, but rec 709 (scene) should do a better job. https://youtu.be/Fcej7hDihW8?si=Bd_-xBChSs6gbywb And the fact that it does ColorSync and the correct gamma tags is awesome! And if you aren’t subscribed to Chadwick’s Creative Video Tips? What are you doing?

Making me feel really old, MacRumors on today being the 41st anniversary of the Mac

From Hartley Charlton at MacRumors, Apple's Macintosh Turns 41 Today. Holy Cow, does this make me feel old. I has an Apple IIc with Green only monitor before I had a Macintosh (in fact I didn't have a Mac until the Mac Classic, which I still have), but I do remember using the Mac + in School. OMG it was so amazing. It just changed everything. And of course I still use one today (with a little use of a Microsoft surface, though I still had a Mac too).

Macworld on that the iOS App Store needs to become more like the Mac

Jason Snell at Macworld has this interesting article. And it is also right that they are going too far against non-notarized apps on the Mac! Even worse are permissions in so apps that you must re-up every month! And yes I can see some shields around NFC on the phone, but yes you need to be able to bypass Apple if you want to, and just install what you want. Apple though doesn’t want to give up its cut, so this won’t happen unless they are forced and I don’t see them being forced in the US. They don’t see the iPhones as ours but as theirs and all the software and only regulation could help stop this.

Jordie Bruin’s Amnesia a name a fair price app to disable monthly reminders for Screen Capture Access on an App by App basic in Mac OS Sequoia

Check out Amnesia from Jordie Bruin with Antoine van der Lee, a name a faire price app to disable monthly reminders for Screen Capture Access on an App by App basis for Sequoia. Sure I am sure apple will figure a way to bypass this, but for now I them some money and will be using it for sure.

Are Technica on Mac OS 15 Sequoia

From Andrew Cunningham, his annual coverage of the annual Mac OS Release is always a must read to really get to know the new OS. This is always the best post about the OS that you will read! It is a must read. I am not working right now cause I am taking care of our baby, so I upgraded (mainly because of SoftRaid working), and honestly it is a pretty impressive OS so far. My biggest complaint has to do with iPhone Mirroring. If you want to automatically log into your phone, it automatically sets the sleep to having to enter your password every time you login, which I don’t want on my computer at home. The work around is to use an Apple Watch to automatically login. The problem is my Apple Watch 5 side button has frozen up, so I can’t use it for quick logins (or to ring the location of my iPhone)., though it does let me login.

Since Mac OS Sequoia comes out in a 8 days, check MacRumors to see if your software runs

MacRumors forums macOS Sequoia Working and Non-Working Apps. Looks like the latest Creative Suite currently works, but DaVinci does not, which is not good. And no word on SoftRaid which is honestly my most important software. Honestly this is always the best place to check, though I do find that specific video editing software isn't always the real focus here.
