Why does Apple sleep alarm move to watch but you can my do the same with other alarms on Apple Watch

Ok so this is something that has bugged me for sometime between the Apple Watch and the iPhone.

If you use the Apple Bedtime and Sleep settings and are wearing your Apple Watch instead of the alarm happening on your phone, your watch will vibrate. Some people hate this, but I love it, as it doesn’t disturb my wife or newborn baby.

The weird thing is there are no controls for this it just happens and you can’t say have the alarm on both your watch and the phone or even just the phone.

Even weirder to me if you set alarms on your phone they don’t alert your watch even if your phone is set to silent (when it should default to vibrating your watch).

Apple really needs to have settings for this and they should be global.

If I have on my watch and have my phone set to silent I should be able to have all alarms go off by vibrating my watch, but there are no controls for this whatsoever. And the only cross alarm that happens is in the sleep/bedtime alarm mentioned earlier.

Apple Watch and Notification Issues

So I have had my Apple Watch Series 2 for a few months now, and overall I really love it, except in it’s handling of notifications.

My first smart watch was the original Pebble, and I really liked it, and liked how it gave notifications, and that was basically all that I used it for, and it worked well, but I found myself not using as much, because I really didn’t need constant notifications.

I have also been a FitBit user for years, but found I didn’t like the wrist ones with notifications as well as I liked just the normal FitBit One that I would throw into my pocket (until I washed it).

Jump to now and my Apple Watch, and overall notifications seem less important to me that the functions of the watch. In fact much of the time I don’t even notice them, or ignore them.

The one time that Notifications seem to show up all the time is when I am actually using and interacting with the watch, and this is the time when I don’t want to see any notifications.

Literally every time I am using Walkmeter to record my walks, I get notificaitions when I am attempting to interact with it, which slows me down, and just annoys me. The same when I am trying to use the Workout App, and I am trying to see how I am doing, and instead I get full screen notifications constantly! And it takes me out of my workout to dismiss the damn notifications when I want to be seeing the info on my workouts!

This to me seems like the opposite behavior of what it should be. When I am interacting with the watch or using a workout app, I only want to see something like the red dot and a specific vibration to notify me that there are notifications, but not to go full screen, because these are times when I am trying to use the watch itself! I would like a do not disturb feature from within workout apps!

Apple needs to do better at this! It annoys me literally every day.

The Apple Watch has been Announced along with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Apple has announced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the bigger and biggest versions and with more storage coming out September 19th (with iOS 8 on September 18th), moving the iPhone 5S to the low end, and the iPhone 5C 8 GB for Free! Love the 1080 diplay on the big one, but think it is going to be way too big. Apple Pay sounds great, but I won’t have a new iPhone for a while, so I am excited it works with the Apple Watch.

And even more exciting is the Apple Watch. As a Pebble and FitBit user I am very excited. It has a digital crown to help navigate without covering the display. As well as the inductive charging to leave this waterproof (my biggest FitBit complaint). And I love the changeable watch bands! And 2 Watch sizes and 3 types, the Watch in Stainless, The Sport in stronger aluminum or the Watch Edition in gold for the high end. And having siri on watch is pretty cool.

I am most excited for fitness and workout apps. Actually the workout seems more exciting, as it does your specific workouts, vs just overall daily activity. The integration with healthkit will be great though, especially if it also works with fitbit or other health trackers, so you can see your friends on other devices (as I love seeing how my mom does on fitbit, which is usually much better than me). And having the heartbeat monitor is also very exciting.

And Apple TV control is very cool, since it will be on your wrist already.

Expensive though at $349 to start in early 2015.

Too bad apple screwed up the stream so much! Couldn’t watch it on my Apple TV, and it started with Chinese translation overlayed, and it keeps stopping and starting! Bad job Apple.
