Will AVID be delisted from NASDAQ?
Wow, further proof that AVID is doing incredibly badly right now.
I think AVID needs to innovate but I don’t want to see them go under.

Cheesycam has the news on the new Rebel level EOS cameras the T5i and the very small Canon EOS Rebel SL1 both of which shoot full HD video, though certainly without the full HD out of the new 100D and 700D.
Cinescopophilia has the news on these new DSLR’s that can shoot 24 fps for up to 22 minutes. They also mention HDMI mini output wiht full high definition, which if true is huge, as it will bypass the crappy h.264 compression.
I didn’t expect to have 2 S lens cameras released at the same time. Pretty cool.
FXGuide has a great article on the GPU Tech Conference and a report on what NVIDIA has to say, which could be huge for CUDA acceleration.
Volta sounds really exciting! 1TB a second bandwidth! Wow!
And I would love something like an Octane Renderer, but it is way too much, so I would never afford to get my hands on one.
I woke up this morning to an e-mail from Feedly on how to make Feedly more Google Reader like. So of course I decided to give it another chance.
And I have to say with the changes, it is a pretty good Reader replacement. Fast and works well. And for now it still syncs with Reeder (until they replace with their own backend when reader goes down). My only complaint so far is that the feed organization is pretty bad. I can’t seem to drag feeds where they were very easily.
That and the iOS app is set up as the graphical view and you can’t seem to change that. Until Google Reader goes away I will be using REEDER to sync with Google Reader, and trying Feedly on the desktop for now.
CNET has the news on this Google Chrome extension coming back, though no longer with Google Reader. You can get the extension from Google. No longer works with Reeder, need to figure out URL’s to work with the new readers that I am trying now.
Creative Cow has a great article by Debra Kaufman on the crossroads of a Visual Effects Industry in Crisis. Well worth checking out. And a scary look inside the industry.
The whole flat bidding thing is the scariest thing, as jobs always get bigger and have more changes and if you don’t get overages eventually the expenses will kill a company and that is why so many are moving overseas where the labor is cheaper.
And it is not like Rythym and Hues is the first, this will continue, as it may prove too expensive to run an FX company in the current model. Maybe the studios just need to make their own companies on a per movie basis, though I don’t see that saving money either, as they will have to pay their own people!
Cinescopophilia has a great little article on the British Dog Shit Optics, which use old Russian lenses and make them for either DSLR’s or ARRI-PL mounts, and while built off of old Zeiss designs, they have no coating, so will flare like crazy! VERY VERY COOL!
They are quite reasonable too. You can buy them from their Etsy store for $155 for the DSLR version and $310 for the ARRI-PL mount.
I so want one
Canon Rumors has the leaked info on the new tiny EOS-b DSLR.
Interesting. I like the idea of such a small DSLR, especially if it has full HD recording and for $799 body only.
