Cloud storage service SugarSync ( a service like DropBox or Box that has folder syncing capabilities) has updated to 2.0 Beta which greatly enhances the experience. I use SugarSync as it was one of the first to offer folder syncing, but now it is much better with drag and drop, easier sharing, cloud search or as SugarSync Drive from the finder, and it has a greatly enhanced Photo gallery. SugarSync starts at $49.99 a year for 30GB of storage. You can check out a video here.
Hopefully they will update the iOS app soon (Android is first).
I kind of wish that the desktop app was just in the widget in the menu bar instead of running an additional app, but it is a powerful app, especially for easy sharing.

Engadget has the news on this new Thunderbolt PCIe expansion chassis. The normal model is $399 and fits half length PCIe Card to thunderbolt, but the $699 version which will ship later is made specifically for the RED Rocket transcode accelerator, so you can take it on the go, or use it with your iMac. This company was started by the guy who started G-RAID so they are quality. You can check out mLogic.
HD Magazine has an article on Drift Innovations new sports camera the HD Ghost. It has a remote with indicator light, video tagging and a 2 inch gorilla glass lcd screen, and is 3M waterproof with it’s housing for $399.

I have now been in Apple stores twice and checked out the iPad mini and must say it is just about perfect. The perfect size and weight. My iPad 3 gets heavy to hold, and I think the iPad mini would be just right to hold for extended periods of time. it is so light and feels pretty well constructed.
I still think the price is way too high though. $250 would be a perfect starting place, and even $299 would just deel better than the extra $30.
Took until just as I was going to bed last night to get it working correctly.
Basically when I opened any program in the Creative Cloud Suite it told me my Trial Version had expired and that I had to either license the software or quit. It would show my correct e-mail address, but then ask me for a serial number (which I don’t have since I am using creative cloud). And not let me use the software without it.
Finally I tried telling it I was not myself, and re-entered my e-mail address and password, and then it logged in and re-licensed the creative suite.
Scary bug, especially since I lost use of the suite for a weekend. Now maybe I could have got on tech support and got it figured out sooner, but I hate talking to Adobe’s tech support in India, as I feel that unless I get it promoted to someone in the states that I am never going to get the problem solved.
I have played with the preview a bit (at least the first one), though had issues with importing an old FCP 7 sequence (everything was strangely scaled and I couldn’t figure out how to fix it) so gave up, though was hoping to have time to come back.
Nice to know it is still not the fastest editor, and I didn’t realize it doesn’t have a trim mode. Still it is pretty exciting with it’s node based effects editor, so if they make the editor more fully featured I think it could have a place (especially with FCP 7 Being EOL).
