Apple Photos people detections needs help on dogs, and ways to set death dates so it stops tagging new dogs as dead one!

Indiana Bones died more than a year ago, and I have more than 15000 shots of her
Pepper Pawtts is one year old

So we lost Indiana Bones more than a year ago and got Pepper Pawtts not long after.

And they are both the same color shar pei but honestly look nothing alike! Indiana was a meat mouth and Pepper is a bone mouth!

And I do extensive keywording in Apple Photos, but Apple Photos doesn’t seem to care about that and it insists that Pepper Pawtts is Indiana Bones. And no matter how many times I tell photos that Pepper is not Indiana it adds more Pepper photos to Indiana.

And I can find no way to make my own new Pepper face. You used to be able to tell photos this was a face but now photos is using AI to do it badly, and not all my keywords are even showing up. You have to wait for it to make a category for that dog.

Honestly photos needs birth and death date settings for pets. So it will know the pet or person is dead after a certain date and not to try and tag them after they die!

And you need to be able to select photos and tell Photos this is a new face, not relying on AI that isn’t very good to tag for you!

Literally every day Apple Photos adds hundreds of my photos of Indiana Bones to Pepper Pawtts, but she is dead, and it makes me sad every day. It would be nice if instead of just a, this isn’t Pepper Pawtts, there was an option to say this is Indiana Bones who has her own pet setting.

I hate how Apple takes control away, but replaces it with inferior methods, and they don’t think of things like dog deaths!

Oliver Peters at PVC on the Update Conundrum and his Blackmagic Design Thunderbolt 2 devices not working on Mac OS Sequoia, and yet my Ultrastudio 4K works just fine for me on Sequoia 15.0.1

I commented on the post, as I am running an M2 Mac Studio on Sequoia 15.0.1 and Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 14.2.1 with my UltraStudio 4K and it runs just fine. And I didn’t have to try the terminal hack, it just worked. And I tested it in Adobe Premiere Pro 14.6.3 and it works just as it should. So it isn’t the Thunderbolt 2 adapter not working with a driver, or the latest driver fixed it.

I am so glad it still works too, as I am busy parenting and with a newborn unable to work right now, so I wouldn’t have been unable to replace it for a while.

Jordie Bruin’s Amnesia a name a fair price app to disable monthly reminders for Screen Capture Access on an App by App basic in Mac OS Sequoia

Check out Amnesia from Jordie Bruin with Antoine van der Lee, a name a faire price app to disable monthly reminders for Screen Capture Access on an App by App basis for Sequoia.

Sure I am sure apple will figure a way to bypass this, but for now I them some money and will be using it for sure.

NoFilmSchool on the VFX of FX’s Shogun

From Jason Hellerman at nofilmschool.

Even cooler after all its Emmy wins, this show was quite good with very impressive VFX. We enjoyed it greatly, though 2 more seasons without source material and having the actress Lady Mariko (Anna Sawai) dead, means she isn’t in it anymore. Still if they follow the real story it could be decent I guess.

Adobe MAX Sneaks 2024 ProjectSuperSonic AI audio creation

This is huge and going to be a major game changer, so Adobe you had better put this into Premiere ASAP. Not only text to audio, but being able to record a scratch track for timing!

Honestly as a commercial and direct response editor I have seen less and less put into audio. I used to at least have a mixer to do an nice mix, but especially since the pandemic I have also had to do a mix (and while audio is not my thing I have become much better at it) but being able to add sound like this so quickly will certainly bring projects to another level.

InsideRadio: California Big Tech Deal ‘Jeopardizes the Suitability of Local Journalism.’

NAB: California Big Tech Deal ‘Jeopardizes The Sustainability Of Local Journalism.’

With newspapers dying left and right we need some way to pump money into local news and soon, and it can’t be something like Google’s paying for it’s add browser space as that has been ruled Monopolistic. They need to pay the news agencies for that news (to make up for the 2 Billion a year in lost add revenue) and more so to keep them viable.

Of course we also need to stop the buying up of local news and TV by conglomerates. Companies like Sinclair should not be allowed to exist!

Of course none of that will happen since politicians are literally owned by corporations.

Max Novak on Gaussian Splatting with Blender

I have been learning Blender in my spare time (ok when I can’t sleep when I am on my shifts with our newborn), and have played a little with Polycam on my iPhone, so this is pretty cool.

I could see coming up with some pretty schools spots with this.
