Forbes says new MacPro’s in 2013

Forbes says new Model, designs for MacPro in 2013. It seems that after the uproar over the MacPro non-update that Apple CEO Tim Cook has sent an e-mail to a customer saying that there will be new designs and models of MacPro in 2013.

Franz,
Thanks for your email. Our Pro customers like you are really important to us. Although we didn’t have a chance to talk about a new Mac Pro at today’s event, don’t worry as we’re working on something really great for later next year. We also updated the current model today.
We’ve been continuing to update Final Cut Pro X with revolutionary pro features like industry leading multi-cam support and we just updated Aperture with incredible new image adjustment features.
We also announced a MacBook Pro with a Retina Display that is a great solution for many pros.
Tim
Of course having to wait till next year after a 2 year wait fucking sucks, but at least it looks like the MacPro has a future. And it better include NVIDIA cards and external Retina Display monitors, as well as Thunderbolt and USB 3!

Surgery Update, no stiches for now

So the nurse came by yesterday and she talked to my surgeon’s main nurse, and for now I don’t have to go get stiches. They have stiri stripped my open chest tube wound after seriously cleaning it out with both beta dine and alcohol. And she left an opening in the middle for it to dry and for to beta dine it 3 times a day, but she will be back today to check on it again.

The Orange on the strips is the betadine.

And here is the whole wound, which is looking so much better, and the bump at the top is almost gone. Honestly the main incision is not going to be nearly as bad a scar as the 2 chest wounds!

Apple Updates the Airport Express

Macworld has the story, on the new Airport Express, which was not mentioned in the WWDC Keynote. It basically looks like a white Apple TV now, but now sports a WAN and a LAN connector, and the standard USB and analog/optical audio jack, but it also has the best features of the AirPort Extreme, which is dual band 802.11n support, which will allow macs and iPads to connect over a 5Ghz network, and your iPhone over a 2.4 Ghz network.

And it remains priced for $99 and is available now from Apple’s Web Store.

Dave Pogue says there will be new MacPro’s with a real update

Dave Pogue in the New York Times has a great article on all the new goodies Apple released yesterday, but for me the most interesting part is what he has to say on the MacPro’s.

Many Apple observers also wonder if Apple thinks that desktop computers are dead, since not a word was said about the iMac and Mac Pro. An executive did assure me, however, that new models and new designs are under way, probably for release in 2013.

Still though, that could really mean the iMac are getting an update soon, and the MacPros will just continue with these crappy updates, but one can still hope that Apple has reversed course and is finally working on a new and more powerful MacPro with the latest technology and powerful NVIDIA support (how about a QUADRO 5000 and a GeForce GTX 690 or at least 680). Still the tech in the MacPro is so far behind at this point, they need to work fast or more and more people will move to Windows in the Interim!

Perfect Layers 2 now Free to Download!

PhotoshopSupport has this story, but the amazing onOne Software has now made Perfect Layers 2 for Lightroom and Aperature now available for free!

I love onOne software. They are great, not only do they make quality plug ins, and give you powerful updates for free (like the 64 bit upgrade with CS5), but they also make earlier versions of their software available for free to get you into their software. Their suite is awesome and well worth the price, I use it all the time!

Apple updates iPhoto and Apperature for Retina Display and unifies there library!

MacStories has the story on this one. Apple has updated Aperture to 3.3 and iPhoto to 9.3 which not only give them a Retina Display for the new MacBook Pro, but also unify their libraries, so you can make modifications in either program without having to duplicate the images! This is so very cool! If only they would allow third parties to also do this so Lightroom could do the same, but that will never happen! Still this makes Aperature so much more usefull! Very very cool!

Of course it also means programs like iPhoto Library Manager will need to be updated for this new update to work properly, but still this is a very exciting new feature.
