Canon 6D has Moire issues over 5D Mark III

Petapixel has an article and video that show the moire issues. Looks like the 6D is great for stills, but not so great for video, especially as an alternative to the 5D Mark III.

My 60D and the 7D already have the moire issue, so it still would be an improvement over them, but it sucks that they didn’t put the downsampling of the 5D Mark III, and instead went back to the cheaper and easier Line skipping which causes the issue to begin with.

New Canon EOS Mark III Firmware will have uncompressed HDMI out!

Planet 5D has the news on this new firmware update, which will skip the terrible h.264 compression we have all gotten used to with DSLR’s and have uncompressed HDMI out. I know it will never happen for my 60D (unless someone reverse engineers it), but this is certainly exciting.

The update also includes upgraded autofocus. It will work better with extension tubes and at a distance, which will be great for sports and nature photographers.

Canon has released the EOS 5D Mark III

Canon has finally released the new flagship EOS 5D Mark III. This has many new video specific additions and better low light functionality for this full frame sensor camera.

Check out a video review over at DPReview. And of course why Stu at Prolost just pre-ordered one, which is a great read for all people interested in DSLR video. And Photorumors has a great article on the insides of the camera.

I would love one, but can’t afford it, or the move to full frame from APC-C as I have too many lenses currently invested (though some are full sized lenses already).
