Cut/Daily Premiere Pro Text Master Styles Tip

Cut/Daily has post number 196, Premiere Pro Text [Master} Styles Tip, which you will need to sign up for a free account to read.

Styles are certainly a quick way to get font styles in Premiere, so you can easily make changes, and have matching styles throughout. Now Adobe needs to implement the ability to batch change styles, like you can now see all the text in the text panel for spell check.

ProVideoCoalition Adobe Insights on Performance Improvements for workflows and adobe sensei in Premiere Pro

ProVideoCoalition has an aticle on streamlined workflows with Productions in Premiere Pro as well Speech to Text using Adobe Sensei as well as the upgraded Roto Brush 2.

I can honestly say I don’t ever want to work without Speech to Text, it is amazing, and game-changing, it really is.

And Roto Brush 2 I can’t say that I think it is a better roto necessarily, but it is so much damn faster that it is mindblowing.

Some more posts with low votes at Adobe User Voice for Adobe Premiere Pro that deserve huge upvotes!

I have posted about this before, but here are some more topics that I can’t believe don’t have more upvotes.

The first is with a problem that has been bugging me lately that Essential Graqhics automatically scale when you change the sequence size, and I want them not to, or to have control if they automatically scale as you can do with Motion Effects. I often have to do a 1920×1080 and a 1080×1080 sequence so I cut it in 1920×1080 then do a 1080 version. Now I want the graphics to stay the same, but they don’t.

Bug: Essential Graphics scale when changing sequence frame size with 5 votes.

Option to not resize graphics when resizing a sequence with 2 votes.

So I have long hated the AMIRA lut added to Alexa Footage. It has been notorious since it was added, and has been known to cause project bloat. It used to show up as a Master Clip effect (now a source clip effect) but this has been changed (though strangely I can’t find it anywhere in the Premiere Pro help files) to be in the new Interpret Footage Color Management section.

Moving the AMIRA LUT to Interpret Footage Color Management takes more steps to remove the AMIRA LUT, How about an option to not apply ever. And yes this is mine.

Option to disable or delete Amira LUT with 8 Votes.

These are just a few more issues that Adobe needs to deal with, let me know if you have any that you think should be dealt with quickly by Adobe.

PostPerspective on Digital Anarchy’s new Text-to-video paper cut conforming tool for Premiere

Randi Altman at his postPerspective site has an article on Digital Anarchy’s Text-to-Video Conforming Tool for Adobe Premiere Pro. Digital Anarchy has expanded it’s Premiere Pro transcription tool to add Rough Cutter. And it can use a transcription from any source including the free Adobe Sensei captions, and it will literally make a paper cut. And for only $199.

Wow, that is a little scary. I have worked at many places where you literally cut a rough cut in a day, then did b-roll coverage on day 2 and clean up and music on day 3 and shipped behind the scenes pieces.

Of course as an editor I have always felt that just letting an editor edit will give better more organic material as it is based on not just what they are saying, but how they are saying it, but there are certainly places to start with a paper cut and if you can do a paper cut this easily the $199 is literally nothing.

Adobe has updated Premiere Pro to 15.4 with Free Speech to Text and Full M1 support

So I woke up way too early today because the air conditioner is not working too well, and I was too hot to keep sleeping and low and behold Adobe has updated Premiere Pro to Version 15.4!

This update brings the amazing Speech to Text out of Beta and into the normal version and out of the Beta program which I have been running for a bit. This quickly became my favorite feature when cutting testimonials, and I am so happy that i is available to all. It also includes new Transcript Editing Tools and the ability to Generate Captions Automatically.

And adds native support for Apple M1 Computers which was previously only available in the beta.

Other new features of Note:

New Titling and Caption Styling Tools.

You can now upgrade Legacy Titles to Essential Graphics. ARE YOU LISTENING AVID?

Color improvements with Tetahedral LUT interpolation. And the beta now includes a colorized vectorscope for more detail in grading.

The Speed of Saving of Team Projects has improved thanks to a new file structure. And in the Public Beta is progressive project loading to work faster, and improved media relinking.

You can now also label colors and clip names and have the option of limiting changes to the current sequence or applying changes to your source media.

Faster Scene Edit Detection.

On Windows you get automatic Audio Device Switching.

And CUDA and OpenCL have been discontinued completely in favor of Metal on the Mac.

Looking forward to running it through it’s paces, this is huge news.

Adobe adds Speech to Text to the Public Beta

Adobe has added Speech to Text to the Public Beta, you no longer need to sign up to use it. Of course if you you are already signed up you can also use it in the release version.

Speech to Text is so good for doing testimonials I don’t know how i ever lived without it. It is fast and works so incredibly well. And having the script helps with comprehension so my edits just go faster. This is the most impressive feature in years, and it has quickly become essential to my workflow.

Adobe Premiere Pro’s recently added Productions makes Premiere the pro software that AVID is

I have already made a couple of posts about Productions, but had to write again with a quick update.

I am currently cutting a 28 minute and 30 second full length infomercial. And it is a legacy project from 2017, with many versions, and tons of footage. When I first got the project it took over 10 minutes to open and was almost unresponsive when trying to use it.

I decided to see how Productions would handle it.

Productions offers you tools for organizing multi-project workflows, sharing assets between projects, and keeping everything streamlined and efficient, whether you’re working on your own or collaborating with a team.

From the Adobe Help Manual for Premiere Pro.

Now I am working from home and not sharing projects, but basically am using productions like AVID uses Bins. So breaking up the project into the categories it was already broken up into, that means Sequences, Footage, Graphics, Audio, Stills, ETC. So each what would have been a folder in a premiere project is it’s own project.

And premiere can access the media from these projects as if they were open within sequences.

It is amazing how much this speeds up a large project. Everything moves like it should. And like AVID you have the safety of each bin being it’s own project in case something gets corrupted, so you are really safe especially if you backup every day as you must.

Honestly with this and Speech to TEXT AVID should be shaking.

Now if only Adobe fixes Merge clips, this will be the ultimate editing program.

Adobe Speach To Text Early Access was not working yesterday, and I realized how quickly I have become addicted to it, it makes Testimonials so much easier!

#SpeachtoText @AdobeVideo

This is what when I tried using the Transcribe sequence in Premiere Pro for a while yesterday. And I realized I don’t ever want to cut a testimonial without the transcription.

It is amazing I can start making selects on my first pass with the transcript. And my comprehension is better. Man this is a feature I can’t live without.

Unfortunately it looks like their 3rd party cloud infrastructure took a hit today.

I am pretty sure Adobe is going to have to expand their infrastructure because this is going to be a popular feature.

Adobe Speech To Text Early Access is absolutely amazing for editing testimonials

#SpeachtoText @AdobeVideo

So I applied to the Adobe Speech To Text Early Access program and was granted access, you can read about it and apply here.

I am editing testimonials and an assistant already cut down sequences so just the best bits are in a sequence.

All you have to do is go to the captions workspace and hit the Transcribe Sequence and it renders and uploads the audio track, and very quickly transcribes. I have had it take 3-7 minutes depending on length.

It then very quickly auto transcribes. And yes it has some errors, that are easily fixable. Basically I duplicate the sequence after transcription and make a cut version that I can cut out the pieces I want and cut them into another timeline. You can immediately jump around or search in the transcription, and just having the transcription follow along on the sequence helps my comprehension of what is being said.

This is truly life-changing! This is the most amazing new feature I have run across in an editing program.

And you can also export a txt file with the transcription though it doesn’t contain the timecode or the speakers, and I would love to see the ability to add in the timecode and to add the speakers for more than single speaker transcriptions. Currently the export txt is grayed out in Premiere Pro 2021, but works in the beta.

Transcriptions have always been helpful to find specific things in a long testimonial, but having them connected to the sequence where you can literally jump to an individual word is beyond amazing!

I was accepted to the Adobe Speech to Text Beta for Premiere Pro, can’t wait to give it a real run through!

So I applied to the Adobe Speech To Text Beta for Early Access, and was accepted, woohoo!

I didn’t realize it is locked to your account and will work in both Premiere Pro 15.0 and Beta based on my Adobe ID, I thought it would only run in the beta, so this is great news.

I am currently cutting commercial and direct response shots, and with testimonial this feature will be invaluable!

I will be reporting on it as I try it out. I have been very excited about this feature for some time.
