Why are people surprised? Apple iWorks has lost features.
This has been all over the web, at MacWorld, MacRumors and AppleInsider, to name a few.
Unfortunately this has been Apple’s MO of late. They are dumbing down their software for the average iOS user instead of the Average Mac user and especially not the power use. They killed most of their professional apps, starting with Shake, then Final Cut Pro 7 (yes FCP X has some power features, but it is still dumbed down in so many ways). And now they remove power features from iWorks from Mac to make feature sync with iOS. Shouldn’t they have added features to iOS? Yes, but instead they dumb down. And they will continue. They have already hidden the user library folder which many power users are going into all the time, and password protected the Utilities folder.
I just wish they would make a Power user mode that turns off the hand holding and lets you do as you please, and stop cutting out features that people use, but I don’t see it happening. I mean look at the new MacPro! Yes it is powerful, but not nearly as expandable or upgradeable as the machine it is replacing.
It really makes me wonder if I will have a Windows machine in the future (though I don’t like Windows 8.1 either).
After Effects CC 12.0.1 fixes crashes on Mavericks
Adobe’s After Effects blog has the news, on this manual update (it is only for Mavericks users so it is not installed through the creative cloud app). You can download it here.
AVID Media Composer and Apple Mavericks
I know Apple must have purposely made Mavericks work with Final Cut Pro 7, but it still works and Premiere Pro CC and CS6 work just fine, so AVID had better get on the ball here.
Of course they have till December with the new MacPro (which will likely coincide with a new version of Mavericks), but that means no new Macs will run AVID until they update!
Diet Update, and Warriors Diet
Haven’t done a post surgery update in a while, so I figure it is about time. Was doing pretty well on the 8 hour diet for a while, though I plateaued and gained some weight back even, though I have continued doing the diet. And eating well on it, most days with 2 light Chicken salad’s a day with Bragg’s low salt dressing cut further with Vineyar. My last big job was a lot of stress though and I just couldn’t do 12 hours a day, 6 days a week! And with that even on the diet i stopped losing weight again even with walking every morning.
Yes Final Cut Pro 7 runs in OS X 10.9 Mavericks
Yes I upgraded to Mavericks and ran Final Cut Pro 7 last night, and yes it runs and plays back. Haven’t done extensive testing, but it does seem to work. And it has to have been on purpose as even After Effects CC had an update to make it work right in Mavericks, but Final Cut Pro 7 without an update still seems to work.
Apple has released New iPad’s
Apple has updated it’s iPad to the iPad air and the iPad Mini to Retina display, keeping the prices and adding 128GB models for both. No fingerprint identifcation, but both look amazing, especially the Air weighing only 1 LB! That is .4 of a pound lighter than my iPad 3, which is admittedly too heavy! I would so love an AIR!
Apple has updated it’s MacBook Pro Retina Display models
Apple has updated it’s MacBook Pro’s with Retina display, and dropped the prices, though you have to go to of the line for $2599 to get a discreet NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of VRAM or you are stuck with iNtel Iris Pro Graphics, so for any heavy editing work.
