No Film School on how you should use ProRAW vs. ProRES on an iPhone
The one thing that doesn’t get touched on, which always drives me nuts about the iPhone is not only that the video frame rate tends to drift, but also that there is a 24FPS but not 23.976. I know 24 is film, but most people shoot everything for video which is 23.976 in the US, and most of Apple’s stuff should be for TV.
Got an e-mail from Maxon, and Red Giant’s PluralEyes is to Enter Limited Maintenance Mode
Now this was a revolutionary program that would sync your audio to video (if it had reference audio) and was the first of it’s kind. Now that it is going, every NLE has Waveform audio syncing built in, so it hasn’t been necessary for years. But it is still a little sad to see it go.
Still lets hope that this means Maxon has more time to develop new tools for it’s Plug In suits.
MacRumors 10 macOS Tips to Make Your Life Easier
Check out the article here by Tim Hardwick.
Now I usually just skim any article like this because I have been on Mac so long, but there are quite a few of these that I didn’t know, starting with the first one Stationary pad.
Apple Podcast app needs individual podcast controls for Playback speed
Apple’s Podcast app is a good app., and getting new features soon (according to MacRumors), but what it really needs is the ability to remember playback speed on a per podcast basis.
I listen to news podcasts that I always listen to at 2x speed, and then music podcasts, that need to be listened to at 1x speed so the music is correct and it is annoying to change the setting every time. You already set podcast feeds to have individual controls to how they are shown (in what order, newest or oldest first. All I ask it to allow a setting to always playback at the speed you select.

This is great as I am not as experienced with Fairlight, though I have been enjoying using it of late.
HiDock for Mac, allows you to set custom dock settings for different displays
This is a very cool app for those who want to customze their dock for different displays, so if you use a laptop and have external displays, you can have the dock be on the side on one, or hidden or on the bottom. Check out the free HiDock app, donations welcome.
PVC on Adobe video tools being used on the Majority of 2023 Sundance Films
From Jose Antunes at Pro Video Coalition.
Of course so many people are using Frame.io now, especially now that you get a free version with your Adobe License.
Still you usually see these articles for Blackmagic since DaVinci is the defacto color correction software, but here we have Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop being used on so many films.
And with Productions Adobe is so much more powerful and works like AVID for features, though I do see so many people saying they are moving to DaVinci Resolve instead, but having used it, I still don’t think the editor is at the same level as Premiere.
