Adobe Premiere September 2026 (version 26.5)

Adobe is certainly going all in with AI, and I worry that their focus is not an editor like me, but an editor for social media only. Generate media with the Generative Media Tool Ability to generate video and sound effects from Premiere directly in the timeline. Build sequences faster with Paper Edit select multiple lines of text in the text panel to quickly assemble a sequence from your transcript. This is cool, and I will certainly use it, but I have also worked with Producers who had me edit from a precut, so they would not need an editor for at least the rough cut. Support Sony FX5 cameras, with 32 bit float hi-res audio. Full raw control and enhanced ProRes RAW performance. Match audio settings automatically with Match Source. match Source includes sources audio channels and sample rate, with automatic down mixing and warning when a format can’t support the source’s channel layout. Get smoother Object Masking results. Adjust the smoothness of object masks with new controls for more precise mask edges. Create cinematic looks with new and updated effects. Create Flares with Lens Flare, and updated Twirl and Mosaic. Extend more media with Generative Extend. In formats up to 4K UHD and interlaced and non-square. Certainly all interesting, and worth playing with, most having been in the beta.

PVC on Adobe Premiere 2026 (it lost the Pro)

https://www.provideocoalition.com/new-ai-and-masking-tools-in-premiere-plus-major-upgrade-to-after-effects/ https://youtu.be/OGKbVm94uoE?si=lJQ8Pcze3m7SfveC So it is now Premiere and not Premiere Pro, so no one said the Pro. And they have already upgraded the AI based roto tool in Premiere that came out so recently! And of course also on the recent After Effects upgrades which came out a month or so ago.

CUT/DAILY on documentary workflows with AI

CUt/DAILY #442 (Free Registration Required) is on using multicam and AI to create a trailer or reel for a documentary. Pretty interesting and how this can speed things up and find clips, though also a little scary as this may in the future keep editors from ever viewing all their footage, which I see as a huge mistake! Still speeding up finding clips is always a good thing.

Scott Simmons at PVC on generative AI and graphics issues

https://www.provideocoalition.com/i-would-have-thought-generative-ai-video-could-animate-this-one-correctly/ I actually feel good about this because we graphics artist still have jobs and that means generative AI is not smart and can only lean to do graphics by stealing and distilling other people’s work, and if it hasn’t distilled it, it can’t create it. And it will never do anything new.

Ars Technica on Getty’s CEO saying fighting every AI lawsuit is too expensive!

  • Post category:AIArtist

From Ashley Belanger at Ars Technica. AI image by bing of “AI creating artwork” It is insane that AI companies think about fair us, when they should have to have permission to use any image. And not mentioned is the fact that Trumps big beautiful bill halts all states ability to regulate AI for 10 years, which means the feds could force artists to give up their artwork for AI company profits. We need serious AI regulation, but Trump doesn’t care, look what he has done for cryptocurrency.

PVC on Generative AI tools for Video and Animation

  • Post category:AI

https://www.provideocoalition.com/generative-ai-for-video-animation/ It is scary how fast generative AI is moving! Another year and it is a whole new world! I still can’t believe Trumps Big Beautiful bill stop states from being able to regulated AI for 10 years, so if it passes as is, no need for ethically trained AI for 10 years, you have to be kidding me!

Alexis Van Hurkman on being the Senior Product Manager if Color and working on and releasing New Color Management system

From Alexis Van Hurkman's blog and his first blog post in years (I had no idea he had joined Adobe). A very interesting read. With the new baby, I have so little time right now to play with Premiere, but this is something that has been needed for so long, now if only they would come up with a REC.709 Color space that doesn't have the Quicktime Color Shift (like BlackMagic has done).

Adobe MX 2024 Sneaks ProjectTurntable lets you rotate 2d vector objects in 3D

https://youtu.be/gfct0aH2COw?si=KwgpaKJkRwvtZM81 I use Illustrator, but am by no means an illustrator master, but the power of this sneak is just mind blowing! Taking your artwork and interpolating it in 3d so you can rotate it in both x and y directions and leave it as an editable vector file is beyond insane! -
