Premiere (no longer Pro) 2026 what’s New

From the Adobe user guide. AI Powered Object Masking has been heavily upgraded from its recent release. Redesigned Shape Masks in Rectangle, Elise and Pen shapes. These look to be straight out of Davini Resolve even with 3d tracking, and that can only be a good thing! Send Media from FireFly Boards to Premiere Desktop. Boards sounds interesting, and I would love to play with it, but taking care of an 18 month old full times means until it runs on my iPad I won’t be trying it. Video Transitions Handles on timeline! This always should have been there! GPU accelerated thumbnails! Anything that speeds things up! Native support for windows on Arm. That should have been there earlier And support for Nikon N3D NE to support the new RED camera. Overall pretty decent upgrades. It’s just after adding so many effects recently without a big batch things seem slow!

PVC on Adobe Premiere 2026 (it lost the Pro)

https://www.provideocoalition.com/new-ai-and-masking-tools-in-premiere-plus-major-upgrade-to-after-effects/ https://youtu.be/OGKbVm94uoE?si=lJQ8Pcze3m7SfveC So it is now Premiere and not Premiere Pro, so no one said the Pro. And they have already upgraded the AI based roto tool in Premiere that came out so recently! And of course also on the recent After Effects upgrades which came out a month or so ago.

Why’s new in Adobe Premiere Pro September 2025 (25.5)

I am a little late posting about this update, as I don’t get much chance to actually sit in front of my computer since I am taking care of my toddler 24-7! But here is Adobe on Premiere Pro 25.5. 90+ Modern realtime effects and transitions! This is so big as Premiere’s transitions have been sorely lacking for some time! In fact so few have been added in ages that this is just huge news! I hope adobe goes out and buys some more effects packages! New Animation Tools is really more from the above, Faster More Precise Editing! Live audio waveforms is another big one as this has been sorely lacking in Premiere and a speciality of DaVinci. Let’s just hope they have fixed all the bugs with waveforms disappearing as this has been a frustration for well over 10 years that they have never dealt with! Listening to editors, improving every cut! Sequence color tabs provide visual indicators for better organization. Improvements to the Effect Controls panel make keyframing more predictable. New preferences for default fonts for text and captions. New keyboard commands to toggle track mute and solo based on targeting. Search for Adobe Stock media from the File menu. New support for 16-bit PNG images to support newer HDR finishing workflows that require high-bit-depth media. Improved data range and color metadata handling for DNxHR, DNxHD, and PNG.Completely rewritten support for MKV. All great and let’s hope it continues! I would love more focus on fixing problems and lesson new features overall. Let’s hope Adobe really is listening’

What’s new in Premiere Pro September 2025

https://youtu.be/k24EWjrDgC0?si=qF-z1zYF7hjtaR7j I can honestly say I never saw Adobe buying Film Impact and adding over 90 real time effects for free! Premiere has had such a limited built in effects for so long that this is huge news! And being able to move clips while seeing waveforms is huge as is a faster timeline! All are so welcome!

Scott Simmons at PVC on generative AI and graphics issues

https://www.provideocoalition.com/i-would-have-thought-generative-ai-video-could-animate-this-one-correctly/ I actually feel good about this because we graphics artist still have jobs and that means generative AI is not smart and can only lean to do graphics by stealing and distilling other people’s work, and if it hasn’t distilled it, it can’t create it. And it will never do anything new.
